White Feather Pampas Grass - 250x  Seeds – Cortaderia Selloana - Tall Flower

White Feather Pampas Grass (Cortaderia selloana) is a gorgeous ornamental grass that adds dramatic height and delicate texture to your garden. It is distinguished by its gracefully arching foliage and long, feathery white plumes. When fully grown, this resilient perennial can reach heights of 2-3 meters, making it an eye-catching focal point for borders, fences, or as a natural privacy screen. The silky, plume-like blooms, which bloom from late summer into fall, can be cut for dried floral arrangements and sway lovely in the breeze. Full light and well-drained soil are ideal for White Feather Pampas Grass, which is drought-tolerant and low-maintenance once established.

Growing instructions:

To grow White Feather Pampas Grass (Cortaderia selloana) from seed, start indoors between late winter and early spring (February to April). Sow the seeds on the surface of moist, well-draining compost and lightly press them in--do not cover, as they need light to germinate. Maintain a temperature of around 18–22°C, and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Germination can take anywhere from 14 to 30 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle and all risk of frost has passed, harden them off gradually before transplanting outdoors into a sunny, sheltered location with well-drained soil. Space plants at least 1 metre apart to allow room for their mature size. Pampas grass prefers full sun and is drought-tolerant once established, though it benefits from regular watering in the first year. Flowering typically begins in the second or third year, producing tall, showy plumes from late summer into autumn. Cut back dead foliage in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and encourage fresh growth.
