What a stunning display of colour developed from Lobelia seeds. Seeds for lobelia grow quickly and are simple to grow. A very well-liked annual, lobelia brings vibrant colour to a variety of situations. Use lobelia plants as a general ground cover, as edging in flower beds, and in hanging baskets and containers. It has a wide range of uses and enjoys blooming all summer long!
Make sure to water deeply and for a long time because lobelia are not drought tolerant. To withstand the sweltering heat of the sun in the middle of the day, the roots require an abundance of moisture. Keep it from drying out. In full sun to partial shade, lobelia blooms grow well as a lovely ground cover.

Fill a seed tray or pot with moist seed compost. Stand the tray in water until completely moist and then drain off the excess water.
Sow seeds as thinly as possible over the surface of the compost. The finer you sow them, the easier pricking out will be. Mixing the seeds with light sand may help a more even distribution of seeds. Lightly press the seeds into the compost. Do not cover them with soil as they need light to germinate. Place in warmth 15 to 20°C (60 to 70°F), and keep moist at all times.
