Queeny Purple Dwarf Hollyhock – 50x Seeds – Althaea Rosea Hardy Perennial Bloom
The pretty perennial Queeny Purple Dwarf Hollyhock (Althaea rosea) is renowned for its compact growth habit and vivid, deep purple blossoms. This dwarf variety, which grows to a manageable height and produces a magnificent floral show from mid- to late-summer, is ideal for compact gardens or containers. The big, ruffled blooms give your landscape vitality and colour by drawing pollinators like bees and butterflies. Queeny Purple can withstand a variety of situations while yet requiring little care; it grows best in full sun and well-drained soil.
Growing instructions:
Queeny Purple Dwarf Hollyhock (Althaea rosea) can be grown in the UK by planting seeds indoors in seed trays covered with wet, well-draining compost between February and April. Seeds should be lightly covered and kept between 18 and 21°C for germination, which usually takes 10 to 14 days. After the final frost, which is often in late May, move seedlings into separate pots to harden off before planting them outdoors after they have a few genuine leaves. A sunny, protected location with rich, well-drained soil is ideal. This resilient perennial produces vivid purple blooms from midsummer to early autumn. Healthy development will be supported by periodic fertilising and frequent watering. To promote prolonged blooming and keep plants tidy, deadhead wasted flowers. Perfect for cottage gardens, borders, or containers.
