Luffa Gourd – 20x Seeds – Edible Young Fruit - Cucumber Type Vegetable
Cucumber-like fruits are produced by the adaptable and quick-growing Luffa gourd (Luffa cylindrica), which can be harvested young for a delicious, crunchy vegetable or allowed to develop into natural sponges. Luffa gourds are a unique addition to your kitchen garden and can be prepared similarly to cucumber or zucchini when gathered young. The fibrous interior turns into a sustainable, environmentally friendly sponge that is perfect for cleaning, bathing, and crafting if it is allowed to mature and dry. Because they are active climbers, luffa plants do best in warm, sunny weather with well-drained soil and a strong trellis for support. Plant seeds indoors four to six weeks prior to the last frost, or outdoors as soon as the soil temperature reaches 18°C. Harvest is anticipated in late summer or early autumn.
Growing instructions:
Luffa gourd (Luffa cylindrica) should be grown effectively by starting seeds indoors 4–6 weeks prior to the last frost, usually in late March or early April. In seed trays filled with warm, well-draining compost, place seeds about 2.5 cm thick after soaking them overnight to enhance germination. Keep the soil wet and around 20 to 25°C; germination typically takes 7 to 14 days. After the seedlings have two to three genuine leaves and all dangers of frost have gone (typically in late May), move them outside into a bright, protected area with rich, well-drained soil. Offer a strong trellis or other support for the active climber. The fruits of luffa are ready for harvest in late summer or early autumn, with flowers appearing in mid- to late summer.
