From June to September, large, rich rosy-purple daisy-like flowers with vivid orange-brown centres appear on stiff stems. This hardy plant, which requires no staking, is one of our favourites and makes a beautiful cut flower. It is a long-flowering coneflower that can withstand most weather conditions, with the exception of drought. Try it in bold drifts amid grasses or sprinkled over a sunny, mixed border to extend the season of interest. Bees and butterflies find it attractive, and birds will congregate.
Growing instructions:
From March to June, sow thinly, 1.5 cm deep, into carefully prepared, well-dug, healthy soil that has already been watered. Typically, seedlings germinate within around 14–21 days. keep the plants well-watered. Water plants thoroughly after planting especially during warm days. Echinacea Purple Coneflower Purpurea seeds flower during the months of June to September.
