Sunflower Taiyo is a traditional Japanese variety and is grown for seed growing competitions. The enormous, bright yellow heads are supported by sturdy, long stems that can reach heights of 2-3 metres. They add height and colour to borders, making them a handy flower to grow. When the brown cores ripen, they will form large, seed-filled heads that birds adore. You can also utilise the flowers as cut flowers.
Growing instructions:
Sunflower Taiyo Organic seeds can be planted straight in the ground where they will bloom. (May also be planted internally). Plant each seed 12 mm deep in the ground and spread each seed you plant by approximately 10 cm. Remember to water seeds as they grow. Support the stem as the sunflower grows in order to ensure a giant sunflower. (If seeds are planted indoors, pick the strongest stems to grow outside.)
