500x Briza maxima Greater Quaking Grass Seeds – Stunning Ornamental Grass
Greater Quaking Grass, or Briza maxima, is a beautiful ornamental grass that is highly valued for its delicate, nodding seed heads that quiver elegantly in the smallest wind. This annual grass, which can reach a height of 24 inches, adds a gentle, airy touch to borders, wildflower gardens, and landscapes that have been naturalised. It is a favourite for both fresh and dried floral arrangements because of its distinctive, heart-shaped seed heads, which begin green and turn golden as they mature. It is simple to cultivate from seed, grows best in full sun and well-drained soil, and once established, needs little maintenance. For summer blossoms, sow in the spring, following the last frost. Briza maxima is a must-have for aficionados of ornamental grass because it brings soft movement, texture, and a whimsical touch to any garden setting.
Growing Instructions:
Briza maxima (Greater Quaking Grass) can be grown by starting seeds indoors 6–8 weeks prior to the last frost or by planting them immediately outdoors in early to mid-spring. Light helps germination, so do not cover when you sprinkle seeds on top of well-drained soil. Until seedlings appear, which usually happens in 10–21 days, keep the soil moist. Once the seedlings have hardened off, move them indoors. Select a sunny spot with soil that drains well; once established, this grass can withstand harsh conditions and drought. Briza maxima blooms from early summer through midsummer and reaches a maximum height of 24 inches. When the characteristic, trembling seed heads reach a golden colour, they can be plucked for dried floral arrangements or left in place for decorative effect.
