Dependable and tasty Organic Leek Carentan 2 produces a lovely crop of thick, straight stems in the winter that are ideal for adding to hearty winter stews, soups and casseroles. When fully grown, these broad, sensitive stems can reach up to 5 cm (2 in) thick and have a lovely display of blue-green leaves on top. An excellent hardy crop to fill rows on the allotment throughout the winter season.
Growing instructions:
Sow the Italian Organic Leek Carentan 2 Winter Hardy seeds from March to May. Thinly sow seeds into trays (2cm deep). Germination usually takes 10-14 days and once the seedlings have germinated and have grown 10-15cm tall, transplant the seeds or spread the plants 30-50cm apart. Water plants thoroughly after planting especially during warm summer days. Harvest from September to January.
