Growing Instructions:
A colourful and fragrant annual, Sweet Pea Mammoth Scarlet (Lathyrus odoratus) is perfect for containers, fences, or trellises. When the soil is workable in the early spring, sow seeds outdoors or inside 6–8 weeks prior to the final frost. To accelerate germination, soak seeds in water for the entire night. Plant in full sun in rich, well-drained soil, 1 inch deep, and 6 inches apart. Early plant support might be provided by pegs or nets. Keep the soil damp but not saturated by watering it frequently. To promote bushier growth, pinch growing tips when seedlings are 4–6 inches tall. In order to prolong flowering, remove faded blossoms. Plant in late winter or early spring (February to April); bloom usually takes place in early summer or midsummer (June to August). These sweet peas are ideal for cutting gardens because of their rich fragrance and gorgeous scarlet blooms.
