200x Bells of Ireland – Tall Green Spikes – Moluccella Laevis - Annual

The bells of Ireland (Moluccella laevis) are eye-catching annuals that are distinguished by their tall, upright spikes that are encircled by tiny white blooms and have bell-shaped, bright green bells. These graceful plants, which grow to a height of 24 to 36 inches, give flower beds and arrangements height, texture, and a surprising twist. Although they come from the Mediterranean, not Ireland, as their name suggests, their deep green colour evokes the Emerald Isle. They flourish in full sun and well-drained soil and are perfect for borders, cutting gardens and dried floral arrangements. They bloom from midsummer to autumn. They are popular with both gardeners and florists due to their distinctive look and extended vase life. For earlier flowers, start inside or right after the last frost. Easy to grow and resistant to deer.

Growing Instructions:

Sow Bells of Ireland (Moluccella laevis) seeds indoors between February and April using seed trays filled with compost that drains properly. Since seeds require light and a little chill to germinate, lightly cover them and set them in a cool place (15–18°C). It may take 21–30 days for germination to occur. After the final frost, which is usually in late May, harden off new plants and move them outside. Select a location that is well-drained, sunny, and protected. Water frequently, but don't overwater. From July to September, plants will bloom, yielding tall, cutting-ready green spikes. To promote ongoing blooming, deadhead.
