150x Onion Shallot Matador F1 Seeds
A great variety that yields flavourful, reddish-brown bulbs is Onion Shallot Matador F1. One benefit of growing shallots from seed is that they produce large, single bulbs instead of bunches of smaller ones, and they are less prone to downy mildew. Shallots belong to the allium family, just like their relatives the onions and garlics. They are prized for their rich, unique flavour which is best described as sweet with a hint of garlic and are used in many different dishes, particularly French dishes.
Growing Instructions:
Sow the Onion Shallot Matador F1 seeds from February to April. Thinly sow seeds into trays (2cm deep). Germination usually takes 10-14 days and once the seedlings have germinated and have grown 10-15cm tall, transplant the seeds or spread the plants 30-50cm apart. Water plants thoroughly after planting especially during warm summer days. Harvest from August to October.
