Black & White Carnation Seeds (Dianthus chinensis heddewigii) are a gorgeous and unusual variety of carnation recognised for their spectacular bi-colored blossoms. They will provide dramatic contrast and elegance to your landscape. With their rich, velvety black-purple petals rimmed in white, each bloom makes a striking show that is ideal for flower beds, borders, or containers. In addition to offering long-lasting colour, these hardy annuals (or short-lived perennials in mild areas) bloom abundantly from late spring through summer, drawing bees and butterflies. They grow to a compact height of 30 to 45 cm (12 to 18 inches), making them perfect for cut flower bouquets as well as garden use. This low-maintenance, easy-to-grow cultivar requires well-drained soil and grows best in full sun to partial shade.

Growing instructions:

Black & White Carnation (Dianthus chinensis heddewigii) seeds can be sown straight outdoors in the spring once the risk of frost has passed, or they can be started indoors 6–8 weeks before to the last anticipated frost. Since seeds require light to grow, use seed compost that drains well and gently push the seeds into the surface without covering. Maintain a temperature of 18–22°C and keep the soil moist. Usually, germination takes 7–14 days. Select a sunny spot with soil that is rich and drains properly. Water frequently, but don't overwater because Dianthus doesn't enjoy being wet. Carnation flower during the summer months.
